  • 3 teaspoons olive oil

  • 1 pound full-fat ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt & pepper to taste

When you need to change up your menu, pick this tasty recipe for low carb turkey mushroom burgers. With just a few ingredients, you can shake up your normal routine with these scrumptious turkey mushroom burgers. In addition, it is an excellent choice for a diabetes-friendly menu.

Instructions

Preparation:

  1. Finely chop 8 mushrooms. Slice the remaining mushroom and set aside.
  2. Finely chop half of the onion. Slice the remaining half and set aside.
  3. Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
  4. Add in chopped onion and cook for about 6 minutes, or until soft.
  5. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Add 1 teaspoon of the remaining oil.
  7. Add in chopped mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Allow the veggies to cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Combine mushroom mixture, onion, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and ground turkey in a large mixing bowl.
  10. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Cooking:

  1. Form turkey/mushroom mixture into 4 patties.
  2. Chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to set.
  3. Using the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 teaspoon of oil.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms and sliced onions and cook until tender for about 5 minutes.
  5. Move the mushroom mixture from the pan to a plate.
  6. Cover with foil to keep warm.
  7. In the same pan, cook the patties until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, or the juices run clear and the meat is no longer pink.
