AI Interview Resources

“Becoming AI-native is not about replacing the human expertise and empathy at the heart of Virta. It is about giving every Virtan, especially our clinicians, superpowers. We use AI to deliver more personalized, timely support at scale and to free our people to focus on the complex moments that matter most. The practical AI test is simple: it must improve outcomes and move us faster toward reversing metabolic disease in one billion people.”

Why and how Virta uses AI in the interview process

At Virta, we're redefining what’s possible by reversing metabolic disease at scale. We combine cutting-edge science, advanced technology, and a deeply human approach to deliver life-changing outcomes for thousands of patients.

As an AI Native company, we embrace AI tools in our day-to-day work to support our teams and improve how we work. We also use certain AI-enabled tools in parts of our recruiting process to support administrative workflows, structured assessments, and candidate review,, allowing us to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time building meaningful, authentic connections with you throughout the hiring experience.

If you use AI to work smarter and more efficiently, you already share our mindset — and we’d love to meet you. Review the guidelines below to help set yourself up for success throughout our interview process.

About our AI tools

During your candidate journey, you may interact with the following AI platforms:

  • Veton: Used to support initial candidate screening
  • TestGorilla: Used to support practical skills and ability assessments.

Candidate Notice: Where required by law, Virta will provide additional information before using an AI-enabled tool, including the tool’s purpose, the qualifications assessed, the categories of data processed, available accommodations, and any required audit or disclosure information.

Recruiting Communications: Virta Health will only contact you from email addresses ending in @virtahealth.com, @ashbyhq.com, and @vetonai.careers. Virta will never ask candidates to pay fees, purchase equipment, or provide sensitive personal information outside our approved recruiting systems.  If you think you have been the victim of internet fraud you should report it to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).

AI Usage Guidelines

At Virta Health, we value authenticity, curiosity, and thoughtful problem-solving throughout the interview process. We recognize that AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others are becoming a natural part of how people work and learn, and we support the responsible use of these tools during your candidate journey.

We love seeing candidates use AI in ways that enhance preparation, organization, and learning about us as a company. At the same time, we want to understand your individual experiences, perspectives, and decision-making approach. Our interview process is designed to get to know you

Below is guidance on when AI use is encouraged during the Virta Health interview process — and when it may not be appropriate.

Using AI in our interview process

When interviewing at Virta Health you should anticipate conversations around your practical AI experience at any point during your interviews.

We’ve also introduced a hands-on exercise so you can show us how you use AI as a collaborative partner. We are excited to see how you harness AI as a partner to ideate, troubleshoot, and share your insights with our team.

When Applying

Your application should still reflect your real experiences, accomplishments, and qualifications. We want to understand your background and career journey.

Appropriate use of AI may include:

  • Refining resume formatting or clarity
  • Checking grammar or improving organization
  • Helping structure your experiences or accomplishments
  • Drafting or refining application materials, provided the final materials are accurate and reflect your real background.
Interview Preparation

Preparation is encouraged and expected but interviews should reflect your own perspective, communication style, and experiences.

Appropriate use of AI may include:

  • Researching Virta’s mission and business
  • Learning more about metabolic health and chronic disease reversal
  • Practicing potential interview questions
  • Organizing your thoughts before interviews
During the Live Interview

Do not use AI tools, real-time prompts, voice changers, off-camera coaching, or AI-generated scripts during live interviews unless Virta expressly instructs you to do so for that specific interview or exercise.

Practical Ability Exercises or Take-Home Assessments

We encourage candidates to approach these exercises thoughtfully and use tools responsibly while ensuring the final work reflects their own thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving approach.

Appropriate use of AI may include:

  • Brainstorming ideas
  • Creating deliverables
  • Conducting research on Virta Health
  • Reviewing grammar or readability
  • Helping organize information

These are all acceptable uses of AI unless otherwise stated in the exercise instructions.

Case Studies or Presentations

We value clear communication and thoughtful preparation, while also seeking to understand how candidates analyze information, make decisions, and communicate ideas cross-functional stakeholders.

Appropriate use of AI may include:

  • Researching relevant topics
  • Organizing presentation materials
  • Synthesizing information
  • Improving clarity and structure
How Not to use AI

While we support responsible AI usage, there are situations where AI use may undermine the integrity or intent of the interview process.

Examples of inappropriate AI use include:

  • Creating false experience, projects, or qualifications on your resume
  • Misrepresenting your skills or work history
  • Using or reading AI-generated responses verbatim during any live interview
  • Receiving real-time prompts or coaching during interviews
  • Submitting work that was fully completed by AI without meaningful personal contribution or without adding your touch, voice, perspective, and ideas.

At Virta Health, people remain at the center of our hiring process. While AI may support certain parts of the candidate experience and recruiting workflow, all application materials, assessments, and interviews are reviewed by members of our hiring team. Final hiring decisions are made by humans — not AI — with thoughtful consideration of each candidate’s experience, skills, potential, and alignment with Virta’s mission and values.
